There are many tennis programs in North Houston to choose from. FM Tennis delivers top professional instruction and focuses on the overall personal, physical, technical, tactical, and mental development of your player.

After moving back to Texas from Florida, our daughter saw a huge improvement in her tennis game when she started at FM. She loved going to practice daily because she felt like she was part of a family. Coaches work together to set goals with the players. They coordinate specific hitting and footwork drills for maximum improvement. Players encourage and support each other in a team environment and the coaches care about their students. For instance, they take time to connect with their players, learn about their players’ lives, and help motivate their players to reach their tennis and life goals.

As a former D1 Collegiate tennis player, current teaching pro, and mother to a former D1 - 5 star, top 10 in Texas USTA player who trained at FM Tennis, I have seen all levels of instruction throughout my 45 years of being on a tennis court. We have attended tennis programs from Southern California to Florida, but FM Tennis cares about the whole development of your player. I have known the owners, Chris and Alim for over 15 years and appreciate all they do to promote, guide, and train our youth tennis players.

Chris and Alim coached at the WAC and made the drills fun and instructive for kids and adults…we became hooked on their style at that time. Closure of the WAC led to the creation of FM Tennis Academy, and devoted fans followed them out to River Plantation. Year-after-year, drills and social outings for adults are still fun and instructive, but it is the program for kids that really benefits the tennis world.

Little kids swing-and-miss, run around in circles, lose concentration….and FM has an answer for that! The right mix of patience and progress keep the kids coming back, and they soon swing-and-don’t-miss, run to the ball, and develop skills to compete in tournaments. Then they become teens…and FM has an answer for that, too! Chris and Alim share responsibilities and guide the little tykes into driven, focused, tennis players-for-life.

Chris and Alim guided our son through his high school years of tennis. They molded his game to his abilities and physique, they cared for him, they planned ahead for him.  He and his Doubles partner (now a pro on the tour) put the first trophy into the College Park trophy case, State Champs in 2011. Chris and Alim had the knowledge to guide our son through a grip change so that he would have a chance against the big boys in college, helped him through the recruiting process, and advised him all the way through his Division 1 scholarship and career.

Since the beginning of FM Tennis Academy, Chris and Alim have become not only coaches but close family friends.  They fought for our son’s success, and that is a story for another day…..

I began working with Chris when I was 9 years old. I remember being a bit worried about playing with the group since I was younger than most of the other kids at the time. However, Chris did a fantastic job of working me in with some of the older players so I could get some valuable point play experience. I could tell early on that he actually cared about each of his students, and I quickly felt comfortable hitting with and interacting with the older kids.

Later, during middle and high school, Chris traveled with me and some other players to several USTA tournaments throughout the state. He made sure to support all of my matches, and also cultivated a great sense of camaraderie by encouraging us to watch and cheer on each other’s matches. This support got me through a lot of tough matches and allowed me to stay mentally tough during these long tourney weekends.

I was someone who was also very involved with my academics, and Chris was always understanding when I had any kind of conflict with school. He never unnecessarily pressured me into coming to practice or competing in tournaments, but rather encouraged and inspired me to come out and put my best effort on the court week after week. This method proved to be very successful for me, as I got recruited to play at Caltech and several other colleges. Ultimately, I decided to attend Stanford University and am currently the President of the Club Tennis Team. I firmly believe that I would not be in the place I am today without Chris’s support and guidance.
