Prior to FM Tennis, Alim was Tennis Pro for three years at The Woodlands Athletic Club (The Woodlands, Texas). At that time, Alim competed at USTA tournaments. He won a number of USTA Major Zone tournaments and was ranked as high as #2 in Texas in 2007.
In college, Alim was recruited from Russia to come to the United States to play for Illinois State University, NCAA Division 1 school. With
the Red Birds he won Missouri Valley Conference Championships in 2002. Later Alim transferred to University of Illinois, Springfield, IL. While at UIS, Alim played
at #1 singles and doubles position. He was the captain and voted Most Valuable Player for three years in a row. Alim had the University's best
ever win/lost percentage record. Two years in a row, in 2004 and 2005, Alim reached the Mid West Individual
Championships finals. In 2005, he received the Mid West Region Player of the Year Award and was ranked #20 in the nation. For excellence in studies and athletics he received the Ron Gibbs Scholarship Award.
As a junior, Alim competed in Russia and Europe. He was ranked #21 under 18's in Russia in 2001.
